The ordering page

Add online ordering to your site, match it to your brand, and see what customers see from menu to tracking.

Add it to a page

The setup wizard can create an Order Online page for you (Restaurant → Setup → Checkout). To add ordering to any other page, insert the Restaurant ordering block, or use the shortcode:

[plattivo_ordering]

Use it on one page only. Many restaurants make it the home page (Settings → Reading → Your homepage displays → A static page).

Make it wide on desktop

On a computer, the ordering page shows three columns: categories on the left, the menu in the middle and the order on the right. It needs about 900 pixels of width to do this, and many themes keep page content narrower.

If you see a single narrow column on desktop:

  1. Edit the page and select the Restaurant ordering block.
  2. In the toolbar, choose ⋮ → Group to wrap it in a Group.
  3. With the Group selected, turn off Inner blocks use content width in the block settings, and set the alignment to Wide width (or Full width).
  4. Save, then reload the page.

Tip: Phones always get the phone layout, so this only changes how the page looks on larger screens.

What customers see

  1. Order type: Delivery, Pickup or Dine-in, as you offer them.
  2. When: As soon as possible, or Or later to choose a time today or another day.
  3. The menu: search, category tabs, and each dish with its photo, price, dietary marks and badges.
  4. The dish: choices such as size and extras (required ones are marked), special instructions, allergens and spice level, then Add to cart.
  5. The cart: a coupon code, delivery fees, and a nudge when the order is below the delivery minimum.
  6. Checkout: see below.

Banners tell customers when you are closed (and let them order ahead), busy, or not taking orders.

Reorder

Returning customers see Your last order at the top of the menu and can add it all back with Order again.

Checkout and payment

Restaurant → Setup → Checkout decides where customers pay:

SettingWhat happens
Automatic (recommended)Customers pay inside the ordering page when your payment methods allow it; otherwise they continue to your WooCommerce checkout
In the ordering app onlyOnly payment methods that work inside the ordering page are offered
WooCommerce checkout pageCustomers always finish on your normal checkout page

Inside the ordering page customers can pay with WooCommerce's Cash on delivery, Direct bank transfer and Cheque methods. Card and wallet gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and others) take customers to your WooCommerce checkout page, where they work exactly as in any WooCommerce store.

Tip: Turn on cash payment in the Checkout step lets customers pay at pickup, on delivery or at the table. You can rename it under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.

Order tracking

After ordering, customers land on a tracking page at /order-tracking/<order key>/. The link is also in their emails. It shows the order number, a sentence such as "Preparing · ready by 7:40 pm", the steps, the dishes and total, a Pay now button while unpaid, Call the restaurant, and Order again. It updates on its own.

Match your brand

Restaurant → Appearance has a live phone and desktop preview:

  • Brand colour, with suggestions and a contrast check;
  • Surface: warm cream, clean white or your theme's background;
  • Button shape: rounded, pill, square or your theme's;
  • Fonts: match your theme, Plattivo's fonts, or the device's system fonts;
  • Colour mode: light, dark, follow the device, or match your theme;
  • Logo: upload one or use your site logo.
