Docs Set up

Setting up your menu

Turn WooCommerce products into dishes, add choices such as sizes and extras, and build combos.

Your menu is made of normal WooCommerce products. Plattivo adds a Food tab to each product for the restaurant details, plus choices (modifier groups) and combos.

Dishes

Create a dish as a WooCommerce product (Products → Add New): name, price, photo, short description and category. A simple product suits most dishes; use a variable product when a dish has sizes that WooCommerce should treat as variations.

Then open Product data → Food:

Tip: Fill in allergens for every dish. Customers see them on the dish and many countries require you to provide them.

Categories and menu order

Categories are WooCommerce product categories. Under Products → Categories, each one also has Hide for (order types it is not offered for), a Default prep time, an Icon (an emoji) and a Default kitchen station.

To set the order customers see, open Restaurant → Menu. Drag categories, and the dishes inside them, into place, then click Save order. The Hidden/Show switch and badges on this screen take effect immediately.

Choices (modifier groups)

A modifier group is a question the customer answers about a dish, such as "Size", "Crust" or "Extra toppings". Make one under Restaurant → Modifier groups → Add modifier group:

  • Name (shown to customers) and Internal name (only you see it, useful for telling "Size (pizza)" from "Size (drinks)");
  • Customers choose: One option or Several options;
  • Required, Minimum and Maximum (leave Maximum empty for no limit);
  • Allow quantities, for choices like "2× extra cheese".

Then add the options, each with a Price, how the price applies (Fixed or Per quantity), a maximum quantity, whether it is the Default, and whether it is Available. Click Save group.

Add choices to a dish

On the product's Food tab, under Modifier groups, choose a group and click Add group. Reorder with the arrows, or Remove. A group can be used by many dishes, so "Extra toppings" is set up once for every pizza. Changes here save straight away.

Note: Save a new product as a draft first; the choices and combo sections appear once the product exists.

Combos

A combo is a simple product where the customer picks an item for each slot, such as "Burger Meal: a burger, a side and a drink".

  1. Create a simple product with the combo's name and price.
  2. On the Food tab, tick This product is a combo.
  3. Click Add slot for each part: a Slot name ("Side"), a Kitchen label, Minimum and Maximum, how many are Included in price, and the price of Each extra item.
  4. In each slot, type two or more letters to add the products customers can choose from. Give any premium choice a Surcharge, and mark one as Default.
  5. Click Save combo.

The kitchen sees each chosen item on its tickets, sent to the right station.

Kitchen stations

If your kitchen has separate stations (a grill, a bar, a tandoor), add them under Restaurant → Stations and choose what each one cooks: whole categories or single products. Everything else goes to the default station. See Kitchen display.

Pro: Plattivo Pro adds included-quantity pricing ("first 2 toppings free"), percentage and replacement option prices, conditional choices and scheduled menus.
